Avocado Toast

Avocado toast is all the rage these days and for good reason, tt’s healthy, delicious and super easy to make. There are all sorts of toppings you can add to kick it up. We mentioned a few, but if you want to go crazy this is a great article with ideas.

Embrace the inner hipster. Don't be afraid.


1 avocado

1/2 lemon

1 teaspoon olive oil

2 slices of bread. We like Bread Box Bakery sourdough or country wheat

salt and pepper to taste

Optional additions:

pea tentrils, salad greens (any type), sliced tomato

Optional Protein Additions

eggs (hard boiled, or fried with runny yolk ;), baked wild salmon, low mercury canned tuna or sardines




Avocado Mixture: Scoop avocado into a bowl. Squeeze half a lemon and sprinkle salt and pepper to taste. Mash the avocado mixture with a fork to break it up into a chunky spread.

Bread: You can just slice the bread into 1-1.5 inch pieces and be done with it, but we recommend charring the bread slightly. To do this, place the bread under a broiler for 3-5 minutes. Watch it closely you want a bit of browning and a little char, but not too burnt. You can also char the bread on a grill pan or on an outdoor grill.

Assemble: Smear the avocado mixture on your bread. Drizzle with olive oil. If adding additions place on top of avocado. So good!
