If your only experience with cranberry sauce is from a can, we suggest you give this fresh option a try! It has a tangier bite and you can make it with delicious, fresh, organic cranberries.
Ingredients
16oz fresh cranberries
1 cup white or brown sugar
1 orange, zested
Juice from your zested orange
2 tablespoons water
Salt and pepper
Optional: pinch of ground cloves or pumpkin pie spice
Directions
Step 1: In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice and water with the orange zest. If using, add ground cloves or pumpkin pie spice. It will smell amazing.
Step 2: Stir in the cranberries and cook until they start to pop (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and place sauce in a bowl. The sauce will thicken as it cools due to the pectin that was released from the fruit while it simmered. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to bring out the subtle flavors.
