After a Thanksgiving meal, who wants to do more cooking? Especially with all those leftovers! How about an easy breakfast? This version of french toast made with our specially made french toast bread makes it extra special! If you are short on time you can just warm the bread and smear with a little butter and maple syrup since it is already seasoned!
Enjoy this for breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on your mood!
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 slices Philly bread French toast loaf, challah, brioche, or white bread
1/2 cup maple syrup, optional
1 package of bacon on the side suggested
In a small bowl, combine cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar and set aside briefly.
Make your bacon either in a separate ban or bake in your over until crispy (about 30 minutes). Drain and set aside.
In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk together cinnamon mixture, eggs, milk, and vanilla and pour into a shallow container such as a pie plate. Dip bread in egg mixture and let them soak for a minute on each side. Fry slices until golden brown, then flip to cook the other side. Serve with syrup and top with fresh berries for a fresh healthy zing.
